キンポウゲの仲間のラナンキュラスという花があります。この名の頭につくラナ(rana)という部分がラテン語で蛙という意味で、この花は蛙が沢山住む湿地帯に生える事や、葉が蛙の足の形に似ているという事からこの名前がついています。
姿もなかなかインパクトがあり、ひょろっと伸びた茎から突然巨大丸い花が咲くという奇妙な華やかさがあります。
そのラナンキュラスの名前に、蛙の意である「ラナ」を更に付け加えて、「ラナラナンキュラス」という架空の生き物を思い浮かべました。
「ラナンキュラスの蛙」という具合に動物なのか植物なのかよく分かりません。光源を求めて飛び跳ねたり、ゲロッと鳴けば口から花が咲く、そんな事を空想すると楽しくて、この曲を書きました。

There is a flower called ranunculus that belongs to the buttercup family.
“Rana”, a first part of ranunculus, means “frog” in Latin.
Because the flower grows in the damp area where many frogs live and its leaves resemble a frog in foot, it’s named ranunculus
It has eccentricity looks that a huge round flower blooms suddenly from the extended stalk.
I added to ranunculus “rana” which means frog and then imagined an unreal creature,
“Rana Ranunculus”.
I cannot tell if “Rana Ranunculus(=frog of ranunculus)” is an animal or a plant.
Having fancied it jumping up to look for a light source and croaking & blooming from its mouth, it was pleasant for me when I dream such things and so this music was composed.
